MY JOURNEY THUS FAR
Since I was younger I knew there was a creative side to me that was just waiting to be unfolded. I had very little exposure to the arts in my K-12 education. I often think about it and wish I had the opportunity to immerse myself into the arts much further very early on. In my final years of high school, I joined the yearbook committee and very quickly fell in love with the world of design and photography. I pursued graphic design straight out of high school at Chaffey community college. Although I was studying what I had always wanted I didn't feel confident as an artist to pursue graphic design and slowly began to fall out of love with the arts.
During my time at Chaffey College, I met Susanna Maing, an inspiring, knowledgeable instructor that I had the pleasure of learning from. I had no experience with drawing before her class but she laid out my foundation for drawing. She was patient and kind and helped me flourish as an artist in a very short about of time. I truly believe she helped me fall back in love with art and reminded me why I fell in love with it in the first place. Her class inspired me to add on Studio Arts to my career plan and her way of teaching set the path for me to pursue a degree in Art Education.
I spent the last couple of years developing and learning new mediums of art until I graduated and transferred to Cal State Long Beach as an Art Education major. Where I hope to become the educator that was missing in my education growing up. Whether someone is destined to be an artist or not I hope to help build and flourish the creativity that lives within everyone.
